…this city has a great number of interesting aspects. When you arrive, you might think, you´re in Europe. Buenos Aires is the “most European” city in the world outside of Europe.
Buenos Aires hasn’t got it’s own history like european cities do. they “imported” the history to the city. A perfect example is the obelisk in the middle of the Avenida 9 de Julio.
If you aren´t interested in culture, there are several other things you can do. Buenos Aires has a very big nature park, a zoo, a botanic garden and a entertainment park, but these are only a few places, you can visit.
You can also go shopping, the prices are very high for argentinian conditions, but if you compare them with european prices, they are very low. Most of the things, you can buy cost a third of what you have to pay in Europe.
While the women are shopping, the men can sit in a cafe and have a cup of coffee.
If you look on a map of Buenos Aires, you will see, that a big part of the city is partitioned in blocks. Each block has 100 numbers, but there aren´t 100 houses. An example: You are in the block 2000 – 2100. There you can find the numbers 13, 18, 27, 56 and 93, then the block ends, and a new block begins. A very simply method, because, if you have the number, you only have to look on the map and you will see, in which block the house is, you a searching for.
...we know, how it is, if you have a stop in the USA. Since 9/11 the controls at the airports got much harder. A good advice is to avoid such flights, even they are cheaper.
The next thing, after entry formality and getting your money (scroll down the page to get information about the money), is your transfer to the town. The easiest way is to take the next best taxi in front of the airport-building. But, if you want to avoid bad surprises, forget these taxis. Go to the small taxi-huts next to the exit, tell them, where you want to go and wait for your taxi. The transfer to town has an fixed price.
If you stay for no longer than 3 months, you won´t need a Visa.
Yes, you need a return-ticket. Shortly before you arrive in Buenos Aires, you´ll get a form, you have to fill out. It´s not easy, but if you fill out everything, it will be ok.
Every Tri-Band-Mobile will work. Mobiles with the 1900-frequency will work.
Short tip: The Roaming-Fee is very high. If you want to stay longer than 3 weeks, you should buy an argentinian mobile with a pre-paid-card.
When it´s winter in Europe, it´s summer in Argentina, so the seasons are opposite to the northern hemisphere. The winter is mildly like in Rome. Temperatures: 25ºC - 16ºC (84ºF -75ºF) November until April (summer!) and 13ºC - 5ºC May bis October, with occasionally rainstorms all over the year.
In winter-time there is a difference of – 4 hours to CET, in summer-time it´s – 5 hours.
400 cigarettes and 50 cigars,

The argentinian currency is called Peso, it’s divided into Centavos. The rate of exchange changes often, but a simply rule is:
1 € = 3,50 Pesos
1 US-$ = 3 Pesos
The symbol of Pesos is US-US-US-US-$. It´s similar to the dollar-symbol. Don´t mistake the pesos sign for a dollar sign.
In a large number of the more established shops you can pay with Euros and Dollars as well.
